Broun Votes to Support Troops & Maintain Strong National Defense

Washington, DC – U.S. Rep. Paul Broun, M.D. (GA-10) today released the following statement after voting in support of H.R. 4870, the fiscal year 2015 Defense Appropriations bill. This bill provides $491 billion in discretionary funding to further our national security and military needs, $200 million above the President’s budget request.

“As an original intent Constitutionalist and a U.S. Marine, I firmly believe that providing a strong national defense is a core function of the federal government. In fact, this is an area where the government should be spending money,” said Congressman Paul Broun. “While we must continue to root out waste and inefficiencies at the Pentagon, I believe this bill is a positive step forward in providing our men and women in uniform with the resources they need, while continuing to strengthen our national security. Unfortunately, under the Obama Administration, we have seen countless attempts to degrade our military powers and capabilities – emboldening our enemies and putting those at home and those serving abroad at risk. Now more than ever, we must continue to ensure that America has the strongest military in the world. I urge the Senate’s immediate passage of this essential bill.”
