Broun Reminds Not to let Focus Slip Away from Obamacare
Congressman Paul Broun (GA-10) today released the following statement regarding the ongoing discussions between House leadership and the White House on legislation related to the debt ceiling and continued funding for the federal government:
“As House Republican leadership works to re-open the federal government, it is important to remember why President Obama and Senator Harry Reid have brought us to this point in the first place: they have refused time and again to even discuss Americans’ concerns regarding the trainwreck that is Obamacare.
“We must remember that a majority of people in this country, including my constituents in Georgia, want this disastrous law defunded and ultimately eliminated for all Americans, not just the select few favored by the Obama Administration.
“I fear that we have taken our eyes off of the ball, and as a result, I will vote against any deal which does not stop Obamacare for all Americans, regardless of any promises made to compromise on the budget, tax reform, or changes to entitlement programs down the road. The cost of Obamacare’s massive new entitlement spending will vastly eclipse any savings from these potential reforms, and defunding it should remain our top priority.”
