Augusta Student to Attend West Point Prep

Evans, Jun 21, 2012 - U.S. Representative Paul Broun, M.D. (GA-10) today announced that the United States Military Academy Preparatory School (USMAPS) has extended an offer of admission to Augusta student Megan Blaney.  Megan, daughter of Michael and Ashley Blaney, is a recent graduate of John S. Davidson School of Fine Arts.

I am proud to congratulate Megan for her academic achievement and commitment to serving our nation,” said Broun.  “At West Point Prep, she will be able to develop skills to prepare her for success as a cadet of the U.S. Military Academy and as an officer in the U.S. Army.”

The purpose of USMAPS is to prepare candidates selected by the United States Military Academy Admission’s office for the academic, physical, and military challenges of the United States Military Academy at West Point.  To date, Congressman Broun has congratulated eight students whom he nominated this year to receive appointments to America’s military academies, including Columbia County students John Hintze, Calvin Owens, Erin Payne, and Bianca Franz.
