Pelosi Plan Passes over the Opposition of Most Americans
Democrat leadership ignores the majority of America to pass a government takeover of the health care system
Washington,
Nov 7 -
U.S. Congressman Paul C. Broun, M.D. today issued the following statement after voting against House passage of the largest government health care takeover in American history:
“The massive, 1.3 trillion dollar, government takeover of health care that passed the House of Representatives tonight is a deplorable and unconstitutional attempt by the President and Democrat leadership to take over a huge sector of our economy and an important part of Americans’ lives, while putting our children and grandchildren even further into debt.
“This bill is going to wreck our economy and destroy American jobs, it will increase taxes, increase health care costs on all Americans, and create over one hundred new government programs and bureaucracies. Throughout the entire process, there was no effort on the part of Speaker Nancy Pelosi to include Republican alternatives in her two thousand page bill, especially those of the eleven Republican physicians and medical professionals in Congress. It’s clear that this plan should have been crafted in a bipartisan manner, but Speaker Pelosi even refused many Democrat alternatives.
“I am saddened but not surprised that Speaker Pelosi and President Obama have continued to ignore the opposition of the vast majority of Americans and force this trillion dollar health care experiment through Congress with no transparency and far too little debate. However, I am encouraged by the enormous amount of public support for patient-centered alternatives and hope the Senate will listen to the American people and work for real bi-partisan reform of our health care financing system,” said Congressman Paul C. Broun.
